About the Tool Campaign

A Brief History of Tools at CCC
Since the beginning, Carolina Cross Connection has relied on and required its participating church groups to bring their own tools with them to camp. The tools of all groups have then been stored in a common tool shed throughout the week, and sent out each day with the work teams who would provide home repairs.

In recent years, the tool requirement has become increasingly more burdensome. Transporting tools to and from CCC has become more expensive due to rising costs in gas, vehicle rentals, and insurance. Groups have occasionally had to purchase tools to bring to CCC, an expense that is becoming more burdensome in our suffering economy. Oftentimes, tool shortages would occur at CCC, or the tools provided were of substandard quality and functionality. The leaders of CCC have seen an increasing need to ensure that each camp location is always properly stocked with a sufficient, if not a surplus, number of quality tools, and that the burden of this endeavor would rest on the ministry itself, not on its campers and their churches.

Purpose of the Tool Campaign
Starting in 2009, Carolina Cross Connection launches its first official Tool Campaign to ensure that each camp location is well-stocked with safe, functional, quality tools, and to eventually remove this burden from participating church groups. CCC seeks to provide tools to put in the hands of willing youth and adults who will serve and bring hope to the region's most impoverished communities for many years to come.

The Goal
We estimate that a total of $58,165.91 is needed to cover the cost of tools for Carolina Cross Connection (see enclosed budget). Though it has not been a concerted “campaign” effort, the process of obtaining tools has actually been going on informally for few years, through occasional mailings and requests sent by CCC. Through grants and individual donations, CCC has raised a little over $20,000 towards the cost of tools which have now been purchased, meaning that the ministry is already 39% of the way towards its goal! The goal of the 2008-2009 CCC Tool Campaign is tool raise the remaining $35,251.89, through the donation of the tools themselves and/or money to purchase those tools, by May 2009.
